Cloud delivery is the big buzz at this week’s SAP Sapphire 2013 conference in Orlando and SAP’s SuccessFactors unit will be a headliner as it showcases a new partnership with Kronos, a provider of cloud-based workforce management solutions.

The partnership will help deliver integrated workforce management, human resources, payroll, and talent management offerings in the cloud.  Specifically, the partnership will focus on:

  • Helping enterprises leverage global workforce solutions. Building on successful deployments in many countries, Kronos and SuccessFactors offer global expertise and the ability to accommodate complex labor rules, pay policies, and help ensure successful talent management. Deploying in the cloud enables these organizations to reduce administrative costs; shorten learning curves for managers and employees; and expedite system-wide policy changes.
  • Enable real-time reporting. Companies can extend how they measure and manage their business metrics with real-time alerts on potential labor issues that can help improve decision making, responsiveness, and efficiency.
  • Link strategy to execution. The solution links planning tools to achieve a greater understanding of employee costs, schedules, and performance. This feature works across functional boundaries and helps improve the translation of workforce strategy into business results.

Additionally, information exchange between Kronos and SuccessFactors will help synchronize employee demographics, cost centers, and pay codes.  It also includes a comprehensive, decision support and analytics offering to help organizations drive business outcomes and deliver bottom-line results.

CLO Inside Scoop: This partnership is a win-win for both companies’ customers because it enables companies that already have made substantial investments in a broad array of HR solutions to protect those investments, while still cashing in on the efficiencies of the cloud.  In and of itself, human capital management is a hot growth segment for software and analytics; cloud ups the ante considerably.  But many enterprises have made deep investments in sophisticated systems that can deeply manage complex HR processes from recruitment to retirement.  Look for more partnerships to emerge that leverage strong applications portfolios with solid cloud expertise.
