Microsoft’s rollout of three new business-focused versions of Microsoft’s Office 365 cloud packages aims to make it easier to collaborate and to deploy the cloud-based suite without an IT staff, according to an article in InformationWeek.com

The story, by InformationWeek.com Assistant Editor Michael Endler, points out that each of the three new packages focuses on cloud computing and mobility; two of them address the increasingly important collaboration capability.  The three products are Office 365 ProPlus, Office 365 Small Business Premium and Office 365 for Midsize Business.

ProPlus, offers streaming access to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Publisher, InfoPath and Access from up to five devices. Small Business, which is focused on companies with up to 10 employees, adds business-grade email, shared calendars, Web tools and HD videoconferencing to the Office apps.  Midsize Business is geared toward companies with up to 250 employees and adds online access to Exchange, Lync and SharePoint.  It also includes Active Directory integration, e-discovery and Web-based admin tools.

“For many, the new products’ collaboration focus is among the more noteworthy upgrades,” Endler writes. “Microsoft intends to further develop this vein, with Lync-Skype connectivity expected to arrive by June.”
