WSO2 and Integrated Business IT Consultants (iBIT) have formed a strategic partnership to deliver agile application lifecycle solutions to small and medium business (SMB) clients. WSO2 is a provider of middle-ware platform solutions for enabling service-oriented architecture (SOA) and composite application development and deployment on servers and in the cloud. And iBIT is a provider of application solution delivery for the SMB market — specifically cloud delivery models –managed services, and consulting. The partnership will enable WSO2 and iBIT to provide SMBs with the same strategic advantages as large enterprises in integrating information across the applications that drive their business.

Under terms of the agreement, iBIT will use WSO2’s open source middle-ware to provide SMB customers with integrated business applications delivered as software-as-a-service (SaaS) in order to optimize their business processes and operational efficiencies. Additionally, WSO2 will provide iBIT with technical, sales and marketing support to promote SOA adoption and help customers achieve high availability, performance, and flexibility for IT and business agility.

The new partnership will include the cloud-enabled WSO2 Carbon enterprise middle-ware platform and Stratos 2.0 platform as-a-service (PaaS) foundation as well as all 13 Carbon middle-ware products, which can run either directly on servers or in combination with WSO2 Stratos in the cloud.

“The cloud is a powerful, democratizing force—enabling SMBs to take advantage of enterprise applications to drive their innovation, efficiency and agility,” said Jonathan Marsh, VP of business development for WSO2. “iBIT takes this value to a new level by combining proven approaches to application integration with a cost-effective SaaS delivery model to empower SMBs with more effective collaboration and informed decision-making. We are excited to join forces with iBIT in providing world-class software, support and services to successfully implement enterprise-class solutions that help SMBs compete in the global market.”

CLO Inside Track: A central value proposition for SMBs embracing the cloud is the ability to gain access to resources that not long ago were the domain of large, well-funded enterprises with large IT departments.  The WSO2 and iBIT partnership illustrates the value of cloud delivery of integrated enterprise-class business applications as a force multiplier for smaller organizations.  Cloud’s “power to the little people” mantra may seem hokey but it packs a powerful punch when it integrates business functionality into composite applications that can give them a consolidated view of their operations.
