Proliphix, Inc., a provider of Internet-managed Energy Control Solutions (ECS), has unveiled a new set of hardware and services that will make intelligent energy management easier and more affordable for small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) — including multi-site retailers, branch banks and educational organizations.

The Proliphix IMT-400 Energy Controller allows customers to manage their buildings’ energy systems remotely, via the Web.  Compatible with most HVAC systems, the IMT-400  plugs into an organization’s existing data infrastructure and uses standard Internet Protocols (IP) to connect with Proliphix’s cloud-based remote management software, the UniVista Energy Manager.

Users can set up multi-year schedules, make system adjustments, and arrange e-mail or text message alerts regarding system performance. Customers also receive up-to-the-minute operating data, giving them greater visibility into the operation of their systems, which allows them to easily identify trends that might have an impact on future performance.

The system is specifically designed for retailers, banks, and public sector organizations that need an efficient and cost-effective way to manage HVAC environmental systems across a network of facilities, while delivering a quick return on investment.

CLO Inside Scoop: This energy management application is a good example of cloud’s ability to bring high-end applications that once were the domain of the largest enterprises into the realm of small-to-medium businesses.  Energy management has long been a boon for large corporations because it gives them greater visibility into – and control over – their field operations.  By accessing these applications in the cloud, SMEs can enjoy the benefits without wrestling with the cost and complexity that characterized traditional systems.
