On the surface, Long Island, NY-based Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning doesn’t seem like an obvious candidate for converting to cloud technology.  But that just goes to show the significant power cloud technology possesses to deliver value to a wide range of organizations.

Ned Stevens’ core business is unclogging gutters and removing roof debris before these problems cause shingle, wood, foundational, and other water damage to homes. This time last year, the company launched a set of cloud-based sales and marketing tools from SafeSoft Solutions.  Since then, the business has been able to automate its sales, marketing and collections processes, which has enabled Ned Stevens to post strong growth and expand its offerings.

Before moving to the cloud, the company was able to make 300 to 400 calls a day, partner Seth Goldberg says. Using SafeSoft’s Market Dailer, the company now typically makes 1,500 calls per day, and sometimes more than 2,000.  Sales have risen fourfold in the past 12 months.

“Our employee resource pool is finite,” Goldberg said. “We have a limited salary budget and can’t just bring in a bunch of new sales agents to ramp up volume. SafeSoft allows us to maximize our fixed budget.” Goldberg also uses SafeSoft to accelerate collections on accounts receivables, improving cash flow and driving down the firm’s Days Sales Outstanding metric.

Nima Hakimi, CEO of SafeSoft Solutions, points to Ned Stevens Gutter Cleaning of Long Island as a picture-perfect model of a company using SafeSoft technology to improve sales and marketing productivity and accelerate revenue growth. “They’re doing everything right,” he said.

CLO Inside Scoop: Conventional Wisdom often holds that cloud deployment only yields big benefits for 21st century, information-intensive organizations – but in reality, nothing is further from the truth.  The overarching benefit of cloud deployment is the ability to do more with less.  That often translates into gaining greater efficiencies in existing operations. For small to medium businesses in particular, cloud levels the playing field, enabling such organizations to compete more aggressively in markets dominated by larger businesses.
